Job Characteristics:
1. Knowledge of teaching methods which include critical thinking and problem-solving strategies.2. Knowledge of instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities.
3. Ability to teach applied computer graphic design for print, web and devices, and emerging media in Macintosh environment using the Adobe Creative Suite or Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dream Weaver and other graphics and illustration applications).
4. Ability to analyze, create, and teach print, web, and digital device graphic design curriculum.
5. Experience in web-site design and other multi-media production.
6. Ability to teach digital color and full pre-press operation for Graphic Design.
7. Ability to teach design, web design, materials and color theory, multimedia production and print production.
8. Demonstrate sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, including those with physical and learning disabilities.
9. Work successfully as a team with other instructors and colleagues in campus professional activities including committees, division meetings, etc.
10. Take the lead in appropriate and innovative curriculum/program planning including student learning outcomes assessment, and program review.
11. Willingness to pursue career technical education for visual communications (including seeking grants) on behalf of the program.
12. Engage in community outreach on behalf of the Visual Arts Program.
13. Flexible teaching and office scheduling. Ability to teach late afternoon, evening, weekend, distance learning and/or off-campus classes when scheduled as part of regular teaching assignment.
14. Ability to interact successfully with others as part of a program team.
15. Ability to adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities, including distance learning.
