Artist Statement
My work in Fine Arts focuses on a joint effort between the different disciplines. I am committed to exploring the interdisciplinary space between technologies and the arts. In this area of my work, I focus on exploring the cultural and communicative potential of technologies such as interactive multi-media, electronic installation, and networking. My objective is to design, illustrate and produce great visual images, in theory, and in practice for many more years. In reference to teaching my style and methods vary depending on audience availability.
I like the Facilitator or activity style method of art. This way it promotes self-learning and helps artists develop critical thinking skills and retain knowledge that leads to self-actualization. This style asks questions and helps develop skills to find answers and solutions through exploration. This method also challenges interaction and prompts discovery rather than lecturing facts and testing knowledge through memorization. Using the Hybrid or blended style follows an integrated approach that blends personality and interests with needs.
Typically, as an artist and media specialist, I am defined by the media forms I employ. However, I choose not to define my practice based on a medium in favor of a broader strategy of cultural investigation that continuously redefines itself and its objects. My work tends to examine the following principle: resist pre-packaged and create my own. Develop interdisciplinary concepts, execution, and critique. I try to engage with the latest technologies, scientific processes, and best practices accessible. I do not necessarily require cutting-edge technologies to make my work. I often reclaim, alter or appropriate existing technologies through creative reuse or misuse for communicative cultural significance. My area of interest is jointed between Visual Studies and Media Study in these two areas I share the same passion.
